The WestCanCDA Members Only Lounge — What a Day!
Our annual Members Only Lounge took place on November 7, 2025, at Vancouver Community College’s Downtown Campus, and it was an incredible day of learning, laughter, and meaningful connections.
Designed exclusively for members of the Western Canada Career Development Association (WCCDA), this gathering truly embodied what our community is all about connection, collaboration, and growth.
From the moment we began, the energy in the room was inspiring.
Lama Shaath led us through an engaging icebreaker that sparked lively conversations and new friendships. Her thoughtful facilitation set the tone for an open and connected space where everyone felt welcome.
We then enjoyed an insightful presentation by JoAnne Marlow, Employee Retention Specialist, author, and speaker, who shared practical tools and strategies for résumé building and self-presentation — leaving participants inspired to help their clients (and themselves) shine in today’s job market.
To wrap up, Donald Guse Salah, Director of Workforce Development at Restaurants Canada, provided a fascinating look into the current and future workforce needs of the restaurant industry. His talk offered valuable insights into how career development professionals can collaborate with employers and support a rapidly evolving sector.
The day was filled with great conversation, shared learning, and the kind of professional camaraderie that reminds us why this work matters.
We had so much fun bonding and learning together, and we’re already looking forward to the next one!
